Spirit Fire - Necklace

This 22-inch necklace combines a curated collection of antique and vintage elements. The strand features African amber, alongside yellow and green Venetian trade beads. Silver round beads reclaimed from an old, broken necklace add further character, while pastel turquoise-green Java glass donut beads serve as spacers, finished with a shell button clasp that's over 100 years old.

The handcrafted Java glass donut beads originate from the island of Java, part of Indonesia, where glassmaking traditions date back more than a thousand years.

Speckled oval resin amber beads (called “African amber” or copal amber) were produced in Germany during World War I and World War II. Made from Bakelite or phenolic resin as imitations of natural amber, these beads were widely traded into Africa, where they were fashioned into traditional forms, which became highly sought after.
